Looking to go fruit picking near London? Visiting pick your own farms near London was one of my favourite things to do in the summer when I fancied an escape from the city.
Living in central London, there weren’t any pick your own farms near me but there were lots of great fruit picking farms near London that were easy enough to get to.
Actually, there are a couple of fruit farms in London but they are quite far out of the centre. How amazing is it that you can find places to pick your own fruit in London?!
For the kids in particular it can be a fun day out, especially if you choose one of these PYO farms near London with additional events and activities for families.
The great thing about getting your fruit and vegetables from pick your own farms is that it is as fresh as fresh can be and you know where your food is coming from. It is also important to support local producers.

Most of these fruit farms near London are open from June to the end of August, although some of them are open through to October when they offer pumpkin picking. Some of these farms also have Halloween events and can be a lovely day out from London for families.

Pick your own farms in London
Hewitts Farm
Hewitts Farm is located in south-eastern Greater London so while it is outside of the M25, and bordering Kent, it is still technically in London.
Their Facebook page has more up to date information with regards to what’s picking.

Opening times: From mid June to October: Monday to Saturday 9am to 4.30pm and Sunday 9am to 4pm).

Parkside Farm
As well as the pick your own produce, there is a farm shop. You need to buy a ‘Fruit Voucher’ which is £4.00 per person and is refundable as long as you purchase that amount of produce.

Meopham Pick Your Own
As well as the PYO fruit and vegetables, this place to go fruit picking near London has a tea room and is dog friendly.
In the winter, you can come and pick your own Christmas tree. This is one of the things we like to do at Christmas with the kids.

Stanhill Farm
Stanhill Farm has a large selection of pick your own and a farm shop selling lots of fresh produced and locally sourced items.
To visit the pick your own farm, you need to purchase a ticket for every person visiting (£1.00 per person / under 4 – free).
They also have a maize maze during the summer months and a pumpkin patch in the autumn.

Hawkswick Lodge Farm
This place to go fruit picking near London is fairly easy to get to on public transport. You can take the train from London Kings Cross St Pancras to St Albans City. Walk up Victoria Street to the city centre (St Peter’s Street).
From here, and catch the 321 Arriva bus which will drop you right outside Hawkswick Lodge Farm in 6 minutes.
There is a minimum spend of £3.00 per person (excluding children under 5).

Crockford Bridge Farm
No booking required during the week but booking is required if you are visiting at the weekend. They have a pop-up rum bar during the summer months.
Note that buggies aren’t allowed in the PYO areas.

Garsons PYO Farm
Garsons Garden Centre and PYO Farm
Garsons PYO is huge with a huge variety of fruit and vegetables. It is part of Garsons Garden Centre where you’ll also find a café and a farm shop.
You will need to purchase a farm pass in advance (adults are £4.00 and children 2-14 are £1.00) and choose a timeslot.

Flower Farm
This is a really fun place to go fruit picking near London because as well as the pick your own produce, there is a farm shop, a tea room, a pub garden where they hold mini festivals, live music and comedy shows (Saturdays during the summer)!!

Secretts Farm
Secretts Farm PYO is currently closed but will be operating some pop up days through the summer. They have an award winning farm shop which you can still visit.

Pick your own farms Essex
Cammas Hall Farm

This is one of the more low key pick-your-own farms with pick your own strawberries, a tea shop and farm shop.
